Perhaps it's the "Introduction" part of this video's title that's causing the confusion. In this case it's meant as "introduction to the DVD" rather than "introduction to adult ballet". I will suggest that the video title is changed. Personally I would not choose to produce a ballet video for complete beginners. I teach ballet beginners on a daily basis, have done so for years and it necessarily requires a very "hands-on" approach. Before any proper combination can even be considered, I spend hours correcting bad posture and alignment, explaining the principles of classical ballet and above all "manipulating" dancers into correct positions. A teacher's presence at this stage is absolutely crucial. In my opinion, anyone who claims that basic ballet can be taught by video is either lying or misinformed. This video was always intended both as a tool for teachers (a teacher's edition is available) and as a workout for dancers who already have a solid grasp of basic technique. In any case it will never pretend to be a substitute for the work that should be done in a dance studio, under the direct supervision of an experienced teacher, regardless of level.

So, since this is not an introduction, how about making one that builds up the ability to do a little ballet. I am very interested in getting strong legs but I don't want all the bulk that most forms of dance and exercise build, I also like having a lot of flexibility and ballet focuses on both. I do have classes in my area but the hours will not work for me as I'm a nurse and my schedule is long and varies weekly.

This class is not aimed at complete beginners, as stated on our website: previous experience of ballet is required. However, many adults who return to ballet after several years, having lost most of the flexibility, strength and alignment that they possessed in their youth, are able to regain some of these qualities by following a regime of ballet classes specifically tailored to their needs. A good teacher will also be able to adapt this class depending on individual abilities.

Well, strictly speaking it's called "La fille aux cheveux de lin" which can be translated either way. Both English translations of the French title are used.
